My love of high-waisted jeans hasn’t faded. Skinny high-rise styles are perfect for teaming with ankle or knee high boots. I recently tried J Brand’s Maria style (in Clocker) and Citizens of Humanity’s Thompson in Black in Selfridges. Both styles fit true to size on me, although J Brand is more fitted around the waist than Citizens… Unfortunately, Selfridges didn’t have the colourways I wanted, so will have to buy online – soo happy that shopbop.com offer free international shipping within 3 days (although you may still be liable for taxes)…
I finally succumed to purchasing a pair of J Brand’s Maria in Starless wash after reading a post by a lady called Savannah on the denimology website, click below for more pictures and review:
Although you can buy these off the J Brand website, I chose shopbop.com – I have to say I absolutely love their customer service, I got my jeans within 3 days (you can chose the free shipping option and then you’re responsible for paying your customs duties after, or I opted for their new global service where you pre-pay an amout for custom duties and if this is less than what you originally pre-paid, you will be refunded the difference).
As for the jeans itself, I’m a 25 and it fit true-to-size as expected. The fit is like that of a legging except that the material is thin (I wish it was thicker like Citizens Avedon), the starless wash is a dark, dressier denim colour.
I haven’t bought from French Connection in ages since it’s store on High St Kensington closed down sometime ago. However, after a recent trip to their nearest store in Whiteleys (Queensway), I picked up their Autumn/Winter 2010 magazine and went online and bought their Sydney Knits Striped Dress (£80) in black/antique lace. Normally knit dresses are made of itchy wool which my sensitive skin dislikes, so I was glad that this one is a mix of cotton, viscose and a small percentage of acrylic. Their size 6 fits perfectly, washes well and the bows on the back look cute. I got compliments off my mum (which doesn’t happen that often!), work colleagues and even my neighbour 🙂
I loved this style soo much that I bought their sydney knits jumper which I spotted whilst shopping in Regent Street – mine is in a bright blue colourway (one below is navy colourway) that is in store not online at the moment.
Located in the heart of Mayfair, this Indian restaurant is now one of my favourites. What surprised me was that the decor was neutral (no bright colours) there was no Indian music playing in the background, which made the restaurant in my opinion more refined/elegant. Although it was only a Wednesday night, the place was fully booked (a sign of a good restaurant). The service was exceptional, no pretentious/in your face waiters. We ordered a selection of dishes, which were all delicious, the dessert was the only thing that I didn’t care for (and I have a sweet tooth!).
As we had the tasting menu, what was really nice was that when the waiters served each dish, they explained what it was (you also get a glass of wine with each course, but I couldn’t comment on that as I don’t drink alcohol!). As we were leaving, one of the waiters showed us what the chef’s table was like (it’s a room for 6 people with two glass walls allowing diners to see the kitchen team at work) – would be perfect for a special occassion.
Good night, and would definitely go again.

Located on the trendy Portobello Road, The Electric Cinema is a cool place to visit, and even great for a casual date (food is good).
Pink nail polishes are normally reserved for Spring/Summer collections, but unusually Chanel have just launched their Holiday 2010 makeup collection which includes their nail polish in 547 Pulsion.
I spotted this new polish on the Chanel counter in Boots on the way home from work. Anything pink catches my eye, and the colour was spot on, a deep pink and just one coat creates streak-free, glossy nails. Would suit all skin-tones from fair to dark, and I even bought one as a present for my friend who’s blonde/fair-skinned.
