Archive for Distressed Jeans
A couple of weeks ago, I popped into Selfridges to try on J Brand’s Aidan boyfriend jeans, but found that they didn’t really fit me right even when I sized down. I really love distressed jeans, and I came across their skinny jean in salem and the denim was soo soft and fitted perfectly.
However, there are cheaper alternative jeans out there. Topshop Lacey jeans are a slim boyfriend style and I have tried them on, and they do fit true-to-size and aren’t really a baggy boyfriend jean like J Brand’s Aidan. Even Gap have a nice cropped skinny jean which I’ve got my eye on for when the weather heats up…
I much prefer a few rips in my jeans than boring plain jeans – I guess my teenage rebellion years are still with me 🙂
I do have a penchant for distressed looking jeans – I already have five pairs (2 by Genetic Denim, 1 by J Brand and 2 by Gap), and I’ve been wearing these more than any of my plain jeans.
I sometimes read denimology or the denim blog to get an idea of current styles, and I came across a brand that I haven’t tried before, AG Adriano Goldschmied. I have my eye on their Stilt cigarette style jean (30in ankle length inseam) which comes in a variety of vintage washes as part of their Fall 2010 collection (below):
I’m loving the distressed denim trend, and have fallen in love with premium denim brand, Genetic. Normally, I would not have heard about them if it wasn’t for following the denim blog. I managed to buy a pair of James Zippered Cigarette jeans (below) online from freepeople, and I even managed to bag them at sale price; the money I saved covered the £25 customs charge I had to pay for it to be shipped from the US to the UK. I was nervous at the prospect that they may not fit, but thankfully they ran true to size and the 25 was a perfect fit, the denim really soft, distressing really cool – I can’t take them off! Now I have my eye on two other Genetic styles (the flares would be perfect in summer, they’re a collaboration with Free People).

Alternatively, if you’re on a budget but still would like a pair of distressed jeans then topshop do a great pair for £45.
